Free ringtones for you - rare and special.
We have come a long way since monophonic ringtones was standard. Now the thing is realtones and that is what you find here in the form of mp3 and m4r audio format, but you won't find your favorite song. That is something that you probably have to pay to get. Sometimes the ringtone that people use on their mobile phone says somthing about the type of person they are. Further, it is not unusual that other people might hear this ringtone. These two facts implies that you may have to consider what ringtone to use. For greater privacy, it is a good idea to use ringtones that do not have an all too violent dominant sound. If you want to be sure that other people can hear your ringtone, you must use a ringtone which has the opposite characteristic. That can be a bit more difficult, because it is quite unlikely that others have the same taste as you. To select a ringtone with a high sound level is therefore a more difficult task and you have to find the balance between what you can bear to listen to and what you can assume other people can endure. On this website you will find several examples of both types of such ringtones. This homepage will provide you with unik ringtones, in the form of realtones in mp3 and m4r format. The m4r format is Apple's iTunes ringtone file for use on the iPhone. You will also be able to share your own ringtones with others. As for the mp3 ringtones-files you can use Windows MediaPlayer or similar, to save the files on your computer. You can listen to the mp3 ring tones by using the playback module further down on this homepage. Unless you have a program installed that can handle m4r-files, they will be saved directly on your computer.
How to add ringtones to iTunes and on to iPhone.
Download the m4r ringtone you want and drag and drop it into your iTunes library. Or you can just click on the ringtone-file and it will automatically be placed in the ringtone - subdirectory inside of your iTunes library. To sync ringtones with your iPhone, connect your iPhone to your computer and sync it with iTunes, so that it is visible under the devices tab in iTunes. Click on your iPhone and then click on the Ringtones tab. You can now check the "sync all ringtones" box or check the boxes of the individual ringtones you want. Re-sync your iPhone and the ringtones should be synced to your iPhone. Now all you need is to choose the ringtone you want to use on your iPhone.
The idea behind the mp3 format.
The key to the principle was actually discovered in 1894 when a British scientist described how tones of different frequencies are mutually exclusive. When the human ear hear some low-frequency tones simultaneously with tones of higher frequency, the ear only registers the low tones. Altogether, there were lots of noises in the spectrum that humans did not need to hear, and therefore not heard. Throughout the 20th century the tones that were mutually exclusive were mapped. In digitized form it consisted of music wav files and the files were filled with sounds that were above or below the human ear's range. In other words, music filled with waste. And it is this problem which the mp3-format solves with an algorithm, which can calculate which frequencies you can do without.
. . .more ringtones are on the way.
